Tony McClellan
I live in Northern NJ and run boot camps just for women. I have been training boot camp classes since January of this year. I was nervous about the idea of group training and sort of procrastinated a bit. In addition I was trying unsuccessfully to get an outdoor space, until I finally had a coaching call with Jim Labadie. I had access to an indoor space for free and he said, "I dont understand what you're waiting for." So it started there awhile afterwards. I also have a desire to figure "things" out so I have sort of branched off to knowledge about html code, wordpress configuration, and other dark side of the business tasks. I build my own sites using Dreamweaver and Wordpress and am constantly tweaking them. I am crazy about aesthetic appearance, so it usually takes a little longer then it should. I don't really wanna talk about myself that much though, so Ill leave it there. 2. How has being a part of PTU impacted your career / business? Being a part of PTU has played a nice part in developing business. It is always nice to have a place with like minded individuals that you can share ideas with. Not only are others in the same place as you, but there are those who are farther and those that are just starting. I've been able to interact with some of the people on the site personally and it is extremely beneficial. I truly appreciate anyone taking the time to answer any question I've asked or may ask in the future. 3. What are your 3 biggest tips for your fellow PTU Members? 1. Stay focused. I often find myself thinking about so much different stuff that I want to do and how to do it, that I dont get anything done. Ideas are like new cars, we are excited about them, wash them all the time, park in isolation, etc but eventually we start to slide and want something else. This is the same thing that seems to happen (at least with me) with different product or marketing ideas. We think of something, get excited about it, then move on to another one. What was accomplished? Nothing. Tuning out all the unnecessary is extremely important and critical to get things done. 2. Go outside our industry. The guys in the fitness business area are awesome and do wonderful things for us. Jim Labadie's courses are excellent, Chris McCombs is the Yoda, and Steve Hochman is the man. But there are so many more people that we also listen to that are great like Pat Rigsby, Ryan Lee, Bedros Keuilian, etc etc. But I think that sometimes you gotta venture outside of the realm. The best product that Ive bought lately was Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing. It was one of those $2K products that I got for S&H to try newsletter (you've seen em). It contained so much information that I don't hear anyone talking about it was crazy (and only $30)! Study the internet marketers, the copywriters, and video guys and see what type of info you can get. And for Petes sake, when you see those deals where you get a ton of stuff for signing up for a paid newsletter, DO IT! Even if you cancel afterward, get the stuff you can for cheap. You can learn so much from it. 3. Figure it out. As I mentioned I have to figure out how things work, namely html and other things. However if you completely suck at it, save yourself the trouble and outsource. Figure out that you are not going to accomplish the task you are attempting and find someone who can. I am determined to figure things out, so that's why I buy photoshop newsletter templates, graphics packages for ebook covers, and use Dreamweaver to do my sites. I enjoy that, but many others do not. Figure out what you like to do and do it. Get other people to do the rest. So thanks to the PTU staff for selecting me this week and I am gonna see if I can be the first to get selected twice haha. See everyone at Fast Track!!!
