1. Tell us about yourself and your business

First off, I want to say I am thankful and honored to be a part of a great group of professionals who chose me to be the PTU member of the week right after Fast Track because there were so many great people and stories that were shared this past weekend.

I grew up in a small town called Grinnell, Iowa. I attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a major in Art, Business Administration, Coaching Certification with concentration in Exercise Science. When I moved to Kansas City in 2003, the first jobs I applied for were Personal Training jobs at Fitness Together, 24 Hour Fitness, and Golds. I got accepted to all of them but backed out because I was afraid of taking the leap into a world of fitness where I didn't know if I was going to get a paycheck this week or not. In February 2006, I said Fu<$ it!! I became a trainer at 24 Hour Fitness, got to be the best trainer in Kansas City, and then thought to myself, "Where else is there to go? I'm already at the top?" That's when I bought Jim Labadie's "Ultimate Boot Camp Start-Up Kit" in March 2008. I always wanted to be on my own and finally jumped into it August 2008. I quit 24 Hour as a birthday present to myself in December 2008, and celebrated my freedom and new journey as an entrepreneur!! I took the Leap of Faith!!

2. How has being a part of PTU impacted your career / business?

PTU has been huge in helping me with my career by making my life easier. I met the boys Pat, Nick, Jim, BJ, Brian Grasso, and others back in Chicago in October 2008 , which sealed the deal for me. I decided I wanted to stay with these like-minded professionals. They were awesome people who I knew could help me with my business. Pat just sent out an email called "Do You Make Things Too Hard?" Being part of the Boot Camp Blueprint has totally skyrocketed my business with the content and the people behind the content. I could sit here and read and try to figure things out but why do I have to? PTU provides all the info right here, so it allows me to do what I do best, which is use me and my personality, and go out and hustle and get things done! This past weekend, I met a bunch of great people at Fast Track, whom I have been communicating with online and have now finally met them. They are forever in my life now and will be my friends forever. I can read a fake person a mile away but these men and women are all worth millions!! I am picky, and don't allow many people into my life but when I do, they're golden!!

3. What are your 3 biggest tips for your fellow PTU Members?

Three biggest tips? Oh man... I have tons of tips.

1.) Motivation vs. Inspiration. Let's start there. This past weekend, Brian Grasso talked about the difference between Motivation vs. Inspiration. You have to want this! You have to want to change lives and become part of others lives. Figure out what it is you want from yourself and your business and go, go, go until you hit your goals.

2.) Educate yourself. Read something everyday to grow your brain! Many fitness professionals this past weekend are in the same boat as I am. I have been involved with sports and fitness my whole life. My business is less than a year old, I am a celebrity (thanks Rocco), but I'm far from the smartest guy out there. I love learning new things from PTU members and anybody else. Surround yourself with people smarter than you (this was mentioned at Fast Track). I knew Greg Justice before I knew he was part of BCBP and he throws cool, crazy things at me when we're at Starbucks and we pick each others' brains.

3.) Set goals. Each day, set a new goal. Plan your day, week, month, and year. Plan even more than that. Don't do too much though. Again, you get paid for "Done" not just staying busy. I catch myself staying busy all the time and have to slap myself because I get frustrated. Then, I just look back on my To-Do list and figure out the top things that's going to get me the highest ROI and I knock those things out of the water. 4.) Practice what you preach. I know you said three things, but I wanted to add one more. Be yourself. Don't be fake. If you're telling your members to eat right, you better be eating right. If they can survive a set of 50-10's from BJ Workout Muse Boot Camp Dynamite collection, you better be able to do those exact same workouts that you are creating. Be the part. Look the part. Live the part.
